ABOUT DR. PRUITT AND HIS MINISTRY Dr. Pruitt and his wife Cathy and their young family moved to Chehalis, Washington in May 1957, to begin pastoring their first church. Under the leading of the Holy Spirit they left behind a career in the U. S. Air Force to answer the call of God. After their tenure at the church in Chehalis they moved to White Center, Seattle, Washington, to pioneer a new church. The Lord blessed their effort and they soon had a thriving and growing church. But in 1960 they had a witness in their spirit that the Lord was leading them to the East Coast. After a time of waiting in the presence of the Lord for confirmation of His direction. When they were satisfied it was the Lord, they moved to Tennessee for a short period of time, and from there to Pennsylvania.
After some time in evangelistic ministry the Lord opened the door for a new church to be started in Elkton, Maryland. Believing this to be the Lord's direction they started holding home meetings in the area, the growth was exceptionally good. A building had to be secured because the homes were no longer large enough to hold the people. This was the birth of the church that would come to be named, Spirit and Life Bible Church, with the official name remaining, Apostolic Deliverance Church, Incorporated. The Pruitt's remained as pastors for the next thirty years.
During their tenure as pastors they also had a Christian Day School and a Bible College for training young men and women for the work of the ministry. For many years they also hosted two conferences a year. The winter conference was especially designed for pastors and church leaders. The summer conference was geared for the whole family. These conferences became a gathering place for ministers from many different states and several foreign countries.
In the late eighties the Lord led Dr. Pruitt to form a missions organization, called "Mission Teams International," the main thrust of this ministry would be to take teams of pastors and other qualified church leaders into the nations to help strengthen, encourage and train other church leaders. This ministry has been very successful in net working many churches together in those nations—not only in their own country, but with churches in other countries as well, including the United States.
Dr. Pruitt now serves the Body of Christ in an apostolic calling. He travels extensively throughout the U. S. and in other countries, and is considered as a "Father" in the faith, and has become a pastor to many pastors.
His service to pastors as a pastor, presbyter and church counselor, has brought him face to face with many different situations that churches go through. With this knowledge and experience in dealing with pastors and church congregations, he came to believe there was a great need for the type of book he has written. He spent the better part of two years and every spare moment preparing this text. His utmost desire and prayer is, that God will take what is written and make it work for the greater good of the Body of Christ.
